Foliage Wrap

I knitted this garment a while ago and posted it on Ravelry. It proved very popular, as things with leaf motifs often do. This pattern is a slight variation on the original design. It is one size only but could easily be adjusted. I hope people can have fun with this pattern and feel free to ask for help.

I’m from Brazil, thanks for the creative pattern, I loved !
Could you suggest me a yarn?

    • http://stitchmana.com Anne Thompson

Thank you. If you want to see what other yarns have been used for this pattern there are a lot on Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/foliage-wrap/people

I would suggest looking for something that is both light and bulky, or combining several strands together as I did :)

  • Elizabeth

Ok, this seems like it should be very easy, but for some reason, I am still confused at the end of row 12, despite your clarification. I am not sure what I am supposed to follow for the body of the piece, though I think I understand that I am supposed to continue on in the leaf pattern directly with row 13? Am I supposed to just repeat the seed border from rows 11 and 12, because the preceding rows with the increases were only for the edge shape, right? But I seem to have ended up with two too many knit stitches before I do the pearl, knit, pearl, ssk etc…. Help!

    • http://stitchmana.com Anne Thompson

Hi Elizabeth, yes you keep repeating the seed border as in rows 11 and 12. At the end of row 12 you should have 33 stitches in the leaf pattern section, is this what you have?

  • Jbartick

On Row 2 and Row 4 of the leaf pattern, the pattern says to purl 6, inc in next stitch by knitting in front and back and knit 18.
Row 4 is the same except to purl 8, inc in next stitch by knitting in front and back and knit 19.
When you do the increases, do you increase by doing a purl stitch or a knit stitch (in other works, purl front and back or knit front and back?

    • http://stitchmana.com Anne Thompson

Hi, you do a knit stitch :)

  • Jolie

I love this pattern, but I’d like to lengthen it for my apple shape…. Do you have any suggestions? I don’t want to throw off the balance.

    • http://stitchmana.com Anne Thompson

Hi jolie, to lengthen it you just need to add some more stitches to the garter stitch section when you cast on. To make it wider, you would add some more pattern repeats. You should also look at what other people have done with it on Ravelry. I don’t think making it longer would throw off the balance and it can also be worn different ways, to suit various body shapes. Let me know if I can help any more :)

Hello Ms. Thompson.. I found your pattern for the Foliage Wrap on Ravelry and decided to knit it.  I have only been knitting for about 3 years.  I am having some trouble after I work the pattern for the 12 rows. I found the updated pattern and appreciate the help on the 3rd section. I am confused as to combining the old pattern and the new one.  In the updated pattern, you say that it is done in 3 sections, Seed stitch, Garter stitch, and the Leaf pattern.  Is the original 12 rows the Seed stitch? Please, if you can, let me know what I do next. I love the pattern and the way it is turning out, but I am stuck right now.   Thank you for the help and I hope I am not asking too much.. Cindy

Hi Cindy, If you have done 12 rows from the old pattern, you should be able to start following the new version from row 13. Each row in both the old pattern and updated version contain the seed stitch, garter stitch and leaf pattern. Let me know if you have any more problems, I am always happy to help :)
